The Australian School Based Apprenticeship (ASBA) program provides fantastic opportunities for existing secondary school students to get a taste of their dream career for one day a week. It’s a two year program and completed generally whilst the student is completing years 11 and 12.

Are you a host employer wishing to employ an ASBA?

Its easy!  For a start, you needn’t worry about Work Cover, superannuation or payroll tax. As the legal employer, AFL SportsReady pays the ASBA’s in accordance with the National Training Wage Award and manages all administration.

You are simply charged a monthly amount which reflects the wage being paid to the trainee taking into account any administrative costs.

The majority of SportsReady trainees are non-footballers and are placed with hosts from a variety of sporting organisations – such as AFL and VCFL Football clubs, Leisure Centres, Private and Government schools, Sports Associations, Golf Clubs, Indoor Sports Centres, Sports Medicine Centres, Sports Consultancies, Universities, Sports Stores and other employers in the Sports Industry.
